Happy New Year everyone, I
hope that you had an enjoyable Christmas and have included time for sewing in
your list of resolutions.
Looking back over 2009 brings
to mind our 3 successful Regional Days which concluded in October with our entertaining
and informative speaker, Lilian Hedley ably supported
by London Quilters and our talented demonstrators. Region 1 represented the Quilters’ Guild at
the Knitting and Stitching Show in October and made contact with many quilters
from around the country along with a steady sale of Guild Stock and Region 1
raffle tickets. The year was rounded off
with a double page spread about Region 1 in The Quilter.
Thank you to those who have
returned the questionnaire that was included in the last edition of Our
Patch. Due to a printing error the
return address was missing from the form, so if you have not sent your
questionnaire in yet please send it to me at the address at the end of this
piece. The purpose of the questionnaire
was two fold, first to find out what Region 1 members are interested in so that
we can plan suitable events in the future including events aimed at YQs. The secondary
purpose was to see if there is anyone among the membership who would be
interested in taking a more active part in the region either as a volunteer at
region day or by joining the committee.
Ideally we need another 3 or 4 members to come forward to join the
committee by May 2010.
In September and October we
all suffered as a result of the postal strike and this led the committee to rethink
how we communicate with the members in region 1. When Our Patch was 3 weeks late due to the
strikes we sent our first group e-mail to remind everyone that Regional Day was
coming up. If you did not receive the
e-mail it probably means that we do not have an up to date e-mail address for
you, if you let me know your e-mail address I will add your information to the
database for next time.
Don’t forget to put the dates of the 2010
Regional Days in your new diary and on the family calendar so that your nearest
and dearest know when you are planning on taking some well earned ‘me’ time. Other important dates are the
